Event Title

Floods Can Kill You

Start Date

2015 12:00 AM

Description

The purpose of this project was to educate people on what floods are exactly, what the signs are to watch out for that can cause a flood, and what you can do in order to be prepared as well as steps to take in order to stay safe. A flood is when a stream or river overflows because of excess rain or other factors. The most common cause of these floods is excess rainfall. Floods are the most common natural disasters and cause millions of dollars of damage. The problem with floods is that people often try and wait them out or do not prepare for them properly. People do not understand the true gravity of the situation when floods occur, as most people think they will not be that bad. If a flood hits, people in the flooded area must evacuate as soon as possible, and they must also secure their possessions. This includes turning off the electricity in order to prevent fires, as well as tying down lawn furniture and moving important possessions to the highest possible ground. If evacuation is not possible, then the best move would be to get to the highest point possible. Are you ready to face the roughest of floods?
