Description

The Walsh Gallery featured two solo exhibitions during this time. David Freund’s series of black and white photographs, taken between 1978 and 1981, are drawn from his four volume book that examines the culture, architecture and landscapes of the American gas station. Tom McGlynn’s exhibition of abstract paintings encompass a variety of interpretations evoked through the artist’s use of color, shape and proportion. McGlynn’s chosen visual language loosely appropriates the visuals of pop culture related to advertising and graphic signage, in addition to other cultural signifiers.
