Abstract

On November 1, 2014 John Borelli, Ph.D. presented “The Complicated Journey of ‘Nostra Aetate’” as the 22nd Monsignor John M. Oesterreicher Memorial Lecture.

During his presentation, Dr. Borelli detailed the precarious and fragile history regarding the development of “Nostra Aetate” (Latin: “In Our Time”), the Declaration on the Relation of the Church with Non-Christian Religions of the Second Vatican Council.

Dr. Borelli has been Special Assistant for Interreligious Initiatives for the President of Georgetown University since 2004 and served as Associate Director of the Secretariat for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs for more than 16 years. He has focused on ecumenical dialogue with Orthodox Christians and with Anglicans and interreligious dialogue and relations with Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and interfaith groups.
