My name is Joe Thornton. I’m from the class of 1974. I majored in communications, after coming from Wildwood Catholic in South Jersey and was, delighted to come to Seton Hall. I’m thrilled to be back today, but it actually is bring you back lots of, lots of memories, including, a really important one I had with a financial aid director who realized that I wasn’t going to be able to pay the tuition.
I’m the oldest of nine, the first to go to college. and he helped figure out exactly how it would be possible for me for that first year. It’s remarkable what the university leadership have done with the campus. It’s a postage stamp sized campus compared to many others such as Drake and Notre Dame were, a couple of our kids went.
So I’m really pleased that people had the vision and then the commitment to actually make this, so special. I’m especially delighted to be back to see professor Don McKenna, Doctor McKenna, my favorite professor from, College of Communications. And I understand he’s still teaching, remotely. So there’ll be a special treat when I see him at 4:00.
And I bumped into quite a few friends, and other people from the class of ‘74. So I’m delighted that Seton Hall has started this tradition of reunions. I was graduated from Saint Louis University Law School. We get together every year, for a university wide event and then special five year events. So I would really encourage the Pirates to be that focused, to keep up the community, and to keep up the support.
And best of luck to you and your project.
