Course Description

This course serves as a general introduction to enduring and contemporary questions in international security, a field primarily concerned with the threat and use(s) of force by state and non-state actors for political ends. Topics covered include the causes of war and peace; alliances, territorial disputes, and democratic peace; and contemporary challenges such as energy security, climate change, cyber conflict, nuclear proliferation, border politics, and domestic polarization.
