Course Description
This course examines core themes in the international relations of African States, intra-relations among African States, and relations between Africa and the rest of the world. Key questions the course addresses are: What has been the nature of relations between African States? How has this changed over the last 50 years? What have been some of the core challenges in the international relations of African States? Who are the leaders on the continent and what impact do they have on the region? Currently what are the major issues on the continent? The course will also address key partners and international institutions active on the continent. The course explores the themes behind African international relations and foreign policy both in theory and praxis of international diplomacy while also highlighting the core challenges and global opportunities for African States and the ways the various approaches to address them in international relations.
