Description

The purpose of this poster is to bring awareness to the problem of beach erosion and the effects that winter storms have on the rate of beach erosion. Beach erosion is related to winter storms because high winds give more energy to the shoreline waves, which impact unconsolidated sediments on beaches. Erosion increases, due to increased more power of the waves. Sea level rise and ocean expansion due to Global Warming may be a factor in the increase in the intensity and frequency of winter storms. The importance of coastal communities to replenish beaches, establish planted dunes with natural vegetation, provide a way for beaches to replenish themselves naturally, in order to protect public and private property along coastlines.
