Description

Artist Gregory Coates demonstrates virtuosity with unorthodox materials – bike inner tubes, feathers, wood pallets, records, brooms, recycled cardboard and repurposed fabric – to create immersive works that can be understood on many levels. Historian and curator Lowery Stokes Sims said, "(Coates') work is not about the use of materials, but the material itself as subject matter."
